The meetings industry is becoming a key tourism driver and a major revenue earner in East Africa nations such as, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, South Sudan, Rwanda and Burundi.

In recent years, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) has taken a key role in East African nations. Along with this comes a high demand for team building activities from conference ice breakers and energisers to interactive business games and experiential learning team building programs.

2016 saw a rise in business tourism with AMEX Expo or as it is affectionately known as Africa MICE Expo, kicking off in March bringing together meeting industry key players from across the African continent. Attracting participation from destinations as far flung as South Africa, this event importantly showcased the growth of excellent business facilities in Africa including conference venues, hotels and DMCs.   Africa MICE Expo 2016  injected billions into Kenya’s economy.

MICE Expo 2017 will be held in Addis Ababa. The Ethiopian capital is the seat for the African continent’s umbrella organization, the African Union (AU); the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa [UNECA] and for more than 100 International diplomatic missions, businesses and non-governmental organizations.The city is excellently connected by the national carrier’s wide destination network and local MICE infrastructure includes conference centres wide range of hotels offering MICE facilities and experienced DMCs.
